Hosting a House Concert. At its simplest a House Concert is a musical performance hosted in a private home or back yard. You book the performer, set the date and control the guest list. You do that by either listing it in a local paper, newsletter or by Facebook or an email list. You ask people to either call or email their RSVP. You set a limit how many people you want to have in your home and an agreed upon admission price. No need to sell tickets. People generally pay cash at the door. In some cases you can set up a PayPal if people want to pay in advance. The whole idea is to keep it easy and casual. People show up and you can ask them to bring drinks or food if you like. Generally all the money collected goes to the musician, however, some musicians generally try to share a small percentage with the host for incidental costs. But it is not set up as a Profit Making event for the Host. The musician will have merchandise for sale and usually play two sets of 45 minutes. The musician most times brings their own equipment if they use any. As far as insurance consider this just as if you were hosting a regular party and your homeowners or renter's insurance would cover those situations should apply.
